ASM is the story of a friendship born in college, in Germany, between three boys who are fans of graffiti and black music. Gourmands and gourmets, today they combine their love of rap, gastronomy and natural wines on Origin & Juice. Portrait of a group that intends to show that hip hop can be fun, artistically ambitious and intelligent.
It is in the Belleville district, in the north of Paris, that the international hip hop collectiveASM (A State Of Mind) had filmed, in 2016, the clip of wednesday. It is in this same neighborhood that I found the MCs Green T and FP (Funk.E Poet) as well as their beatmakerRhino, to draw their portrait!
ASM is the story of a friendship born between three graffiti-loving boys who immediately knit strong links with black music, whether it’s funk, reggae or rap, version A Tribe Called Quest or De La Soul.
ASM is three albums, numerous collaborations (with Wax Tailor or Chinese Man) and, above all, a fierce desire to prove that hip hop can be fun, artistically ambitious and intelligent.
The result: sometimes epic, often lyrical and almost always organic boom bap rap.
Their latest project Origin & Juice combines their love of music, gastronomy and natural wine. A mix that suits me perfectly and which explains why the group gave me an appointment at the Belleville Cellar…
