Artturi Lehkonen started Colorado crushed Columbus the Blue Jackets

In Columbus’s goal in his first game of the season, we saw a Porilaisvatt, who had recovered from hip surgery Joonas Korpisalo. Korpisalo, who represented the Blue Jackets from the 2015–16 season, left for North America from Tampere and Ilves.

Korpisalo had to surrender after only 33 seconds of playing. Artturi Lehkonen struck from a two-on-one counterattack. A bad mistake from Columbus, when four of the team’s players went deep into the opponent’s attack corner, and Korpisalo was powerless in the situation. They got the entry point Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. Rantanen’s power marking was the 16th of the season (7+9).

Lehkonen’s hit in the main picture of the story.

After Lehkonen’s hit, all Finns had succeeded in scoring in the matches in Tampere. On Friday, Rantanen went wild with 3+1 and Patrick Laine 1+1.

Korpisalo quickly recovered from the initial setback and kept Columbus upright during the match’s first, Colorado’s superiority.

Instead, Columbus struck with superiority in 12:27. Columbus Captain Boone Jenner steered in front of the goal Zach Werenskin to the cage in the dash in 12.27. Second hit of the season for Jenner.

If Colorado roared to a 3–0 lead on Friday, Columbus recovered faster from its miserable start as a team.

Sports expert Karri Rämö however, gave the edge to the Blue Jackets’ leading defender, Werenski, for Lehkonen’s 1–0 hit. Colorado got into an overpowering attack too easily, when Werenski stupidly drove in from the blue line.

– When you pinch in, there must be a plan. Gotta get the puck or get some guy to the ground or something happens. He went there to spin, to look.

Columbus scored its first overtime goal this season just yesterday. Now another one came after. Laine’s placement with superior strength has been wondered at. Sports expert Ismo Lehkonen reflected that the placement of Columbus players and changing positions in the midst of superiority could even confuse Colorado’s underpowered play.

Rough five minutes

The beginning of the second period was rough for Columbus. Czech striker Martin Kaut scored his opening goal of the season off a bounced puck and gave Colorado a 2–1 lead in 21:22.

Then it was time for Colorado’s star packs to shine. Cale Makar danced with the puck and shot. Colorado to a 3–1 lead in 24.12. Later, the goal was corrected from Makar to Logan O’Connor. The puck hit the feet of the Canadian forward on the way to the net. O’Connor also managed to score on Friday.

After that, Colorado turned Columbus, after a failed scramble, into an attack from which the defender Devon Toews already finished 4–1. Colorado had struck three times when 4:50 of the second period had been played.

At this point, MacKinnon already had powers 0+3. MacKinnon’s and Lehkonen’s plus/minus statistics showed +3 and Makar’s +4. Instead, with Columbus’ number one offensive lineman Johnny Gaudreau – Jenner – Laine’s plus/minus statistic was at freezing -3 after the second set.

During the set break, Karri Rämö marveled at Columbus’s miraculous individual mistakes. For example, in the 2–1 goal, first Korpisalo played poorly with the stick for Gaudreau, and then Andrew Peeke inexplicably turned the pass from his own end straight to Colorado.

For the 4–1 goal, Lehkonen blamed the star striker Gaudreau, who was completely on the wrong side of the ball at the attacking end. Already during the set, Lehkonen criticized the loose workload of the Columbus players from attack to defense.

– Hockey is not a part-time job, Lehkonen wondered.

The third set was a game

The beginning of the third period had a familiar start. The Columbus Pack Erik Gudbranson turned a strange blind pass into the middle area.

In the following Colorado attack, Korpisalo first blocked Kaut’s move. Then Jack Roslovic lost the puck with the consequence that Alex Newhook got to shoot by Evan Rodrigues 5-1 readings from a cross pass in 41:36.

In Friday’s match, Columbus conceded a goal after 1:36 of the opening period and 35 seconds into the second period. Now Colorado vaccinated when the opening set had been played 33 seconds, when the second set had been played 1:22 and when the third set had been played 1:36.

In the 5-1 readings, we counted until the end of the match.

Colorado’s Rantanen totaled 3+2 points in two games in Tampere, although he was a little more invisible on Saturday than in the first game in Columbus.

– When we get consistency in playing, then this will still be good. Let’s try to keep this look. This was a memorable experience that all the guys have loved. The atmosphere was good in both games, thanks to everyone!

Lehkonen was the most visible or at least the most effective Finn in the second game in Tampere. A goal and the top number of the power statistic +3 indicate success.

– Big four points and the whole week was fun here anyway, at least for us Finns. At least there have been a lot of team dinners, hopefully we have been welded together.

More than seven months had passed since Columbus guard Korpisalo’s last NHL game.

The black start of the second period pretty much crushed Columbus’s dreams of scoring. Three quick goals, and Colorado went from 1-1 to a 4-1 lead in less than five minutes.

– I think I composed myself quite well, but I should have composed myself better after that opening goal. You can’t concede three such quick goals, Korpisalo whipped.

Laine’s habitus in front of the media revealed after the 1-5 loss that zero points at the end of the week and being without power points on Saturday dug into the Tampere’s mind. Laine said that the team came to work in Tampere, and failed.

– Two losses and therefore a useless trip. It doesn’t matter if we had fun here, when there were zero pins left in the hand. However, this is a results sport.

Laine’s attack chain was badly below freezing in the power statistics, -3.

– Everyone was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Especially our chain, when you give places to such a (Nathan MacKinnon’s) chain. Then it always rattles inside.

Below is the goal summary of the entire match.
