Army dump is slowly dying out, but war in Ukraine causes peak period: ‘It has been storming for months’

Army dump is slowly dying out but war in Ukraine

Carla van Miltenburg (65) shows a broken army sleeping bag in her sewing workshop. “I will repair it and then it will be like new again. Ready for a second life.” Everywhere in the studio there are boxes and boxes with closures, zippers, buttons and camouflage fabric. Together with her brother Erik, she is the driving force behind probably the last army dump wholesaler in our country. Pallet boxes full of army clothing, shoes, helmets, flasks and cooking sets are piled to the brim in the huge halls. It looks like a thrift store, but the biggest you’ve ever seen. There is also a second branch in Elst.
