Are you overwhelmed by WhatsApp chats? The app’s new filter system should be very useful to you by helping you quickly separate unread messages and group conversations.

If WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messengers, with more than two billion users, it must be recognized that its use can sometimes be confusing. Between conversations with loved ones and group discussions, it is not uncommon to find yourself having to manage around twenty exchanges at once, so much so that we end up getting lost in the thread of conversations. Also, Meta has decided to set up a filter system to help us quickly find unread messages and group discussions in the middle of all this mess, as announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself. The deployment of this new function has already started and should be fully effective in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp Search Filters: More Organizational Tools

Thus, the appearance of sorting filters for discussions is gradually occurring on Android or iOS. There are now three categories: “All messages”, “Unread” and “Groups”. Other filters may be deployed in the future. For example, a tab reserved for personal conversations and another dedicated to professional conversations would be in preparation – each would then have to specify the nature of the discussions to be able to classify them correctly. One look is enough!

This feature is particularly useful when juggling dozens – if not more – of active conversations. No need to hang around for hours to find the right discussion. Note that the addition of filters had already been discovered at the beginning of July by WABetaInfo in the WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.23.14.17, before being spotted again at the end of August 2023 (see our article). And it’s about time, because users have long been asking for better organizational tools. Until now, it was only possible to pin the conversation or archive it. Moreover, we should soon be able to pinpoint five conversations (see our article).
