Palmer opened the scoring in the 13th minute when he played a clever wall by Nicolas Jackson with in the middle of the Everton defense and shot the ball from the edge of the penalty area to the left side of the goal with his stick.
Five minutes later, Everton’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford blocked Jackson’s shot in front of him, and Palmer headed it into the goal again.
On the half-hour mark, Palmer completed his hat-trick when he intercepted Pickford’s pass and fired the ball over the keeper and into the net.
An hour into the game, Palmer struck once more, this time from the penalty spot.
Challenge Haaland
The fiery Englishman has scored a whopping 11 goals in his last six Premier League matches. He rose to share the top spot in the Premier League goalscoring list together with the Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland’s with. Both have hit 20 times this season.
Haaland’s scoring rate has been slower than Palmer’s recently, so the goal scoring crown may become a tight race.
Palmer moved to Chelsea for 47 million euros this season from Manchester City, where it could have been difficult to get playing time.
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino considers that he got value for money.
– He is expected to perform well, but he has been absolutely fantastic and a great help to our team. I’m happy he finished with four goals, Pochettino said.
