Facts: The trial against Theodor Engström
The main hearing against Theodor Engström will last for five days. The plan looks like this:
Tuesday 8/11: The prosecutor’s statement.
Wednesday 9/11: Interview with Annie Lööf and Theodor Engström.
Friday 11/11: Continued interrogations with Theodor Engström. Witness interviews with people who were at the scene when Wieselgren was attacked.
Monday 14/11: Witness interviews with several different people, who will strengthen the prosecutor’s view of the acts as terrorist crimes.
Tuesday 15/11: Some further witness interviews, then the indictments on drug offenses and closing statements.
The main hearing against 33-year-old Theodor Engström enters its second day on Wednesday. According to the plan, Annie Lööf is to be heard as plaintiff in the case during the morning.
Annie Lööf was near the crime scene when the attack on Ing-Marie Wieselgren took place on July 6 this year. She was just about to go on stage at Donner’s place in Visby when one of her bodyguards took her hand and led her backstage and further up a building. There she had to stay until the situation was judged to be under control.
Later, she learns that Theodor Engström mentioned her name in the interrogation and that he is also suspected of preparation for terrorist crimes through plans to kill or injure her. The incident has affected her very much, she describes in questioning:
“Annie states that she now looks at everyone who comes towards her and what they have in their hands, whether they have a knife or the like,” it says, for example, in a summary of the interrogation.
She also chose during the election campaign to campaign without public gatherings and instead made fewer stops for meetings with party members, as it felt safer.
The interrogation of Theodor Engström will begin on Wednesday afternoon. He is charged with terrorist crimes through the murder of psychiatric coordinator Ing-Marie Wieselgren and preparation for terrorist crimes through the murder plans of Annie Lööf. He has admitted the deeds.
Theodor Engström is brought to Visby district court on Tuesday, when the main hearing about the crime during Almedal Week began.
