Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced the deployment of 15,000 police officers and gendarmes in the face of farmers’ blockades. The police must prevent demonstrators from entering “Paris and major cities” while a “siege” is planned around the capital. They are also placed around the Rungis market and certain airports. The minister assured that the police are ordered not to intervene at blockage points except in the event of excesses or violence, their position is that of “security” and “understanding of the agricultural environment” .

Farmers from the FNSEA and Young Farmers are organizing the “siege” of Paris this Monday, January 29. Eight blockages are planned on the main motorway routes leading to Paris from 2 p.m.: the A1, A4, A5, A6, A10, A13, A15 and A16 roads are affected by these blockages.
