An ingenious electric wheelchair climbing all types of stairs!

A Swiss start-up has created an electric wheelchair capable of reaching almost anywhere. The Scewo Bro is equipped with caterpillars in order to climb the stairs in the absence of an access ramp, it can be adjusted in height and is self-balancing.

Many cities have invested in facilities to wheelchair accessibility wheels, but that is not always enough. The Swiss start-up Scewo decided to attack the problem in reverse. What if, instead of adapting the world to the chair, we adapted the chair to the world? The result is the Scewo Bro, an all-terrain chair high tech.

The Scewo Bro is an electric wheelchair with a range of 35 kilometers and a speed maximum of 10 km/h. It is distinguished, first of all, by the absence of front wheels. Driving is on two wheels and the chair stabilizes automatically. He is also able to climb up and down stairs thanks to a track system. This allows him to climb steps up to 20 centimeters high, and climb stairs with a slope of up to 36 degrees.

A chair full of sensors

The device is equipped with sensors to detect the end of the stairs and monitor the immediate environment. Scewo has also added two small wheels which, combined with the caterpillars which swivel, allow the height of the seat to be adjusted. The user can thus grab an object on a shelf or have a drink while being at the same level as his guests.

The Scewo Bro can be ordered via the console on the armrest, or else with a application mobile. Thanks to a ramp, he can climb alone into the trunk of a car and the backrest folds down for easy storage. The chair is currently only available in Switzerland, Austria and Germany, from 36,000 CHF (35,000 euros).
