The suspects were arrested in absentia at the Helsinki District Court in May. Some of them have already been brought to Finland. According to KRP, the preliminary investigation will be completed in the next few days.

The Swedish Dödspatrullen criminal network, which has an extremely violent reputation, is suspected of having smuggled and tried to smuggle hundreds of kilograms of drugs into Finland. According to STT’s information, drugs are suspected to have ended up in Finnish street gangs, among others.

Head of the investigation department of the Central Criminal Police (KRP). Timo Kilpeläinen confirms to that the investigation is nearing its end.

– The preliminary investigation is supposed to be completed in the next few days. More details are planned to be announced this week. We have several people imprisoned in connection with this case, says Kilpeläinen.

He does not want to specify yet how many people are currently imprisoned.

According to Kilpeläinen, this is the first time that a Swedish street gang has tried to take over the drug market in Finland.

According to STT’s information, at the beginning of the year, the Finnish police received information about addresses located in Finland from the Swedish police, which led to the discovery of suspected drug distribution. It is suspected that the drugs were brought to Finland at least via the northern border in trucks, STT is told from several different sources. More than a hundred kilos of drugs have been seized.

Three suspects handed over to Finland

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported on arrests related to the investigation in June. Three people were reportedly arrested in Stockholm and Malmö. The newspaper reported that Finnish and Swedish police were involved in the arrest. Later, a fourth suspect related to the Dödspatrullen was arrested in Sweden.

The suspects are between 21 and 25 years old. All four were imprisoned in absentia at the Helsinki District Court at the end of May. Three of them have since been extradited to Finland, according to public coercive information.

A serious drug crime is suspected to have occurred between June 2022 and May 2023 in Helsinki. In the case of one suspect, the commission period does not start until December 2022.

The investigation was also reported on Monday Helsingin sanomat newspaper.

The investigation is also connected to a large arms seizure, which has been reported in Sweden Aftonbladet. In the spring, the police confiscated more than 20 guns from outside Stockholm, and that the seizure is possibly the biggest in years.

Autumn violence is connected to the “Foxtrot”

Gang violence in Sweden has intensified in recent weeks. In September alone, more than ten people died in Sweden. The recent violence is related to the internal disputes of the Foxtrot criminal network and on the other hand to the competition with the Dalen criminal network.

The Swedish police said on Monday for SVT starting a nationwide operation to stop the wave of violence. Its purpose is to increase cooperation between authorities in response to explosions and shootings. The police also plans to cooperate with the Swedish Defense Forces.
