an animated series will see the light of day, Microids gives details

an animated series will see the light of day Microids

The announcements are going well on the side of Microids which has just announced the launch of the production of an animated series around the Syberia license. The French publisher called on the “What The Prod” studio, which is currently working on Sylvain Chomet’s next feature film (Les Triplettes de Belleville), and is also developing a Biopic on the life of Marcel Pagnol: “Marcel et monsieur Pagnol”. Together, they will therefore bring the adventures of Kate Walker to life through a new medium, which will thus make it possible to conquer a new audience. We don’t know if Benoit Sokal was involved from afar or closely in the project before his death, but the world he created more than 20 years ago will be able to set off again towards new horizons. It must be said that the series lends itself a lot to animation, with different environments that invite you to travel, without forgetting the more whimsical aspect at times. At Microids, we are obviously delighted with such a partnership.

“It’s a real pleasure to see Syberia come to life as an animated series. We’re thrilled to partner with What the Prod to bring fans an exceptional viewing experience that captures the very essence of this iconic franchise. This series will be a new opportunity for players and new viewers to discover or rediscover the fascinating world of Syberia.” says Elliot Grassiano, founder and COO of Microids, while the beneficiaries of the Sokal family also express their joy to see the creative legacy of Benoit Sokal continue in a different way. “My husband would have been honored to see his work develop into an animated series. He created a magical and timeless world with Syberia, and I am delighted that new audiences can now access it through this unprecedented adaptation”says Martine Sokal, widow of Benoit Sokal.

For the moment, we do not know at what stage this collaboration is, nor even the style that will be chosen to set up this animated series, but it is written that the work will be aimed at young adults.
