While the United States sees its relations deteriorating with Niger, the American strategy also seems to be failing in the Central African Republic where they hoped to distract the authorities from their alliance with the paramilitaries from the Wagner group.

Russia has been waging a multifaceted counter-offensive in recent weeks. Since the last visit to Moscow by the Central African president, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, in mid-February, the trips of Central African officials to Russia have continued, in parallel with multiple attacks targeting the United States.

Among the foreign delegations invited for “ observe » the plebiscite re-election of Vladimir Putin, include three members of the Central African National Assembly including its president, Simplice Mathieu Sarandji, and that of the National Elections Authority, Mathias Morouba.

A few days earlier, it was the Prime Minister who was in Moscow. In an interview with state media Sputnik, Felix Moloua praised the “ extraordinary work ” of the ” Russian instructors » and mentioned “ advanced discussions », with a view to new contracts in the military field. He, on the other hand, assured that “ no commitment » had been taken with the American group Bancroft whose arrival had been confirmed, in December, by the Central African presidency.

In the process, around ten American citizens were prevented from entering the CAR and bans on drone flights were reinforced. According to the Africa intelligence site, Bancroft’s representative in Bangui and his contact at the presidency were arrested by Wagner’s men at the beginning of January.

Since then, media and accounts financed by Russia have maintained the pressure by increasing anti-American information campaigns in the Central African Republic. At the same time, Friday March 15, a ceremony with great fanfare was organized in Bangui around President Touadéra for the reception of a first shipment of Russian wheat, transformed into flour in Cameroon.
