Amazon changes the poster of a war film masterpiece – and the star is bursting with anger

Amazon changes the poster of a war film masterpiece –

Anyone who hears the film title Full Metal Jacket probably has several scenes from Stanley Kubrick’s war film in mind – and maybe even the awesome postersIt shows a US soldier’s helmet with a peace sign and the inscription “Born to kill”. Cynical for some, ironic for many, but in any case iconic.

Film star Matthew Modine wears this helmet as soldier JT “Joker” Davies and is very familiar with the image. He was all the more astonished by what he saw on Amazon Prime Video.

Did Amazon Prime Video change the iconic poster for the war film Full Metal Jacket?

On X (formerly Twitter), Full Metal Jacket star Modine pointed out that Amazon Video seems to have changed the poster for the film in its VoD previewThe words “Born to kill” have been removed, which of course takes away the image’s intended duality.

Modine wrote:

Who decided to remove ‘Born to kill’? Not only did they alter an iconic piece of art by Philip Castle, they completely misunderstood why it was there. Private Joker wears the helmet with ‘Born to kill’ and the peace symbol as Statement about ‘the duality of man’.

The fact that these images are still in the test phase also seems to be confirmed by the fact that not all Amazon customers see the alleged AI image. Even in the USA, some people still see Joker’s original helmet on the poster. And in Germany, “Born to kill” is still legible.

Where else can you stream Full Metal Jacket?
