(Tiper Stock Exchange) – The Board of the AMAthe municipal waste company of the Capital, has unanimously approved the 2023-2028 Business Plan predicting investments of over 700 million euros and focusing on the improvement of urban decorum, on the increase in differentiated waste collection and on the development of logistics and plant engineering.

“The vote of the AMA Board of Directors marks a decisive step for the future of the city”, commented the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieriadding “next to the waste commissioner plan already approved last year, a collection, treatment and disposal service will finally be possible at the level of all the other European capitals and what the citizens of Rome deserve”.

“We have already started with the manifestation of interest in the new waste-to-energy plant – explains the Probe – which, together with the other planned plants, will guarantee the plant self-sufficiency necessary for this city. The Ama industrial plan joins all this to contribute in a crucial to greater collection efficiency, also in terms of decorum and cleanliness of the streets, will ensure a strong investment in plants and personnel as well as a significant enhancement of separate collection”.

“The AMA plan – continued the commissioner – represents one ambitious programming tool, aligned with the sustainability objectives set by the recently approved new Waste Management Plan of Rome. Thanks to more than 700 million investments planned over the period of the plan for the development of services, the construction of treatment plants of differentiated waste locally, the strengthening of company logistics e the increase in staffing of an additional 700 units by 2026, AMA lays the foundation for improvement decisively over the next few years the efficiency of waste collection, street cleaning and street sweeping services, to allow the city to adequately deal with the international events that concern it closely, first of all the Jubilee of 2025“.

The main objective the only thing left is to decisively increase the recyclingthrough the introduction of more flexible models that use different collection methods according to the urban areas, with the provision of increase from the current 33% to 45% the share of the population served by systems attributable to door to door. The aim is then to intercept ever greater quotas of organic and other waste which today are differentiated little or not at all, such as textiles, WEEE, wood, sanitary absorbent products”.
