Alpine skiing: Pernilla Wiberg after Michelle Gisin’s attention-grabbing ride: “That’s how it works”

Michelle Gisin cut off the pace as she had a very good margin of victory going. Instead, Nicole Good won.

The reason Gisin slowed down was to give the younger riders ahead of her a career boost through extra Fis points, which affects, for example, starting numbers in the World Cup.

SVT’s expert Pernilla Wiberg believes that this type of competition has been carried out as long as Fis points have been used.

– I myself remember when I went on spring tours in the 90s in Scandinavia where we did competitions like this to give points to our young skaters so that they can start in a better position, says Pernilla Wiberg.

– I would say that there is every possibility for all skaters to go to competitions like this and get Fis points.
