Alicia Goncalves panics – before the Idol Jury’s announcement

Just before she is to find out if she will advance during the final audition, Alicia Goncalves finds it difficult to breathe.
Now she tells us what really happened.
– I have never experienced such a panic before, she says.

In Monday’s Idol, the participants will be told whether they will advance to the solo song or not. When Alicia Goncalves meets the Idol jury together with her duet partner Belinda Charlene, she finds it difficult to breathe.

– I feel faint, she says, and the jury’s Kishti Tomita asks her to sit down on the edge of the stage.

“When something means so much to you, it becomes so tangible”

For TV4, Alicia tells what actually happened.

– There is such pressure and stress when you are there, you have never done anything like this or never been under such pressure. When something means so much to you, it becomes so tangible. You compare yourself to everyone else who is so cruel, so you forget about yourself, she says.

– People come out with the news and are so happy, and during every stage I was last out – every time. While you were waiting, a thousand thoughts went through your head at the same time. I couldn’t eat because I was so nervous, I couldn’t sleep, she continues.

During the duet, Alicia lost the text and it didn’t go at all as she expected, so she was fully prepared that she would be allowed to leave – but it didn’t happen. And what she suffered during the final audition is nothing she has experienced either before or after that.

– I have never experienced such a panic before as I got there and then. But I wouldn’t call it a panic attack, because it hasn’t happened before or since, says Alicia.
