Definition: what is ALD Trans?
The acronym “ALD” stands for “long term condition“. This device offers the management of diseases requiring particularly expensive long-term treatment. Treatments are reimbursed at 100% within the limits of the Health Insurance reimbursement ceiling. Since 2009, transidentity is no longer considered a pathology, but transgender people can continue to benefit from it. ALD Trans is a so-called ALD off-listor ALD 31.”For care to be accepted in off-list ALD, treatment must include medication or medical equipment“, specifies the Health Insurance. 2 criteria among the following 4 are also required:
- repeated biological acts,
- regular paramedical care,
- repeated medical technical procedures,
- future hospitalization.
Who is entitled to an ALD Trans?
For the ALD Trans request to be accepted, the care must be considered as sufficiently expensive. More specifically, that the part entitled “acts and services relating to illness” contains at least three procedures considered costly.
ALD Trans’ request must be completed by the attending physician. The reason “transidentity” must be indicated in the “diagnosis” part, and the “ALD not listed” box must be checked. Once sent to the Health Insurance, the ALD Trans is generally treated in a three week deadline.
What does an ALD Trans offer?
ALD Trans offers medical care related to the transition up to 100% of the Social Security rate. She avoid having to advance medical expenses. On the other hand, the overruns of fees remain the responsibility of the patient, hence the interest of subscribing to a good mutual insurance company. The treatments covered under the ALD Trans are:
- hormone treatment,
- psychiatric appointments,
- endocrinology appointments,
- physiotherapy appointments,
- nursing,
- blood tests,
- sex change operations (vaginoplasty, phalloplasty),
- voice rehabilitation.
What is the duration of an ALD Trans?
The duration is suggested by the attending physician, then validated by Health Insurance. ALD Trans’ request can be renewed as many times as necessary.
