Alby: Fire in terraced house

There is a fire in a row of townhouses in Alby in southern Stockholm.
– Right now there is a fire in four out of five apartments and it will spread to the fifth. So we will have a whole row of terraced houses burning up, says Ludvig Taylor, officer on duty at the rescue service.

The emergency services do not know how the fire started and state that they will be on site throughout the night to prevent it from spreading.

– There is no chance of doing anything, the house will burn down, says Ludvig Taylor.

The police are also on site and helping with the work.

– We have a number of patrols on site and assist the rescue service, which leads the operation, says Carina Skagerlind, press spokesperson at the police.

One person was injured in connection with the fire and received help from the medical service.

– The person inhaled smoke and needed medical attention, an ambulance came to the scene but it is unclear if the person went with them. My view is that there is no serious damage, says Carina Skagerlind.

The police also helped to evacuate residents.

– Most of the houses seem to have been empty, if anyone was at home in the terraced house, they have had to leave the house, says Carina Skagerlind.
