While the live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender gained a whole new fan base on Netflix, with Aang: The Last Airbender a spin-off to the popular animated series from 2005 is in the starting blocks, which is set to conquer the big screen with three films. Part 1 should actually have been waiting for us in cinemas next year. Now the film has been postponed.

Aang: The Last Airbender was supposed to kick off the spin-off trilogy on October 9, 2025. As Variety reports, the fantasy adventure will now be released on January 20, 2026 move into US cinemas. So the good news is that it is only a three month delay. It is not yet known when exactly the film awaits us in cinemas in this country, but a similar launch period can be expected.

Avatar: The Last Airbender – unnecessarily censored!

While Eric Nam (Transplant) will lend his voice to the title hero Aang in the English original, Dune 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista will be heard as the as yet unnamed antagonist. The film’s voice cast also includes Jessica Matten (The Empty Man) as Katara, Dionne Quan (Bratz) as Toph, Dante Basco (Hook) as Zuko and Román Zaragoza (Ghosts) as Sokka.

Lauren Montgomery, who worked on the original series, will sit in the director’s chair alongside Willam Mata. Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are attached to the film as executive producers. Details about the story of the spin-off are not yet known.
