AI labeling – new requirement in the EU

According to the news site Politico Europe, the proposals are to be presented at a press conference in Brussels today, in connection with commissioners Vera Jourová and Theirry Breton meeting representatives of the major internet giants and other platforms that have signed the EU work plan against disinformation.

— Signatories that offer services where it is possible to distinguish AI-generated disinformation should put in place technology that detects such material and clearly marks it for users, Jourová has previously told Politico Europe.

The measures are initially supposed to be voluntary, but there are also plans to include the labeling in the final negotiations that will soon begin with EU member states and the EU Parliament on new common AI rules.
