No longer need to create an OpenAI account to use ChatGPT: everyone can now use the famous chatbot for free that popularized AI among the general public. But there are some limitations…
Until now, you absolutely had to log in to ChatGPT to use the bot, whether with a free or paid account. This is no longer the case: OpenAI is gradually releasing an instant version of ChatGPT allowing you to benefit from the advantages of AI without having to log in with a free account – but you can of course still do so, if you want. own one. Just go to the address chatgpt.com and ask a question. Enough to allow the curious to freely test the conversational chatbot and broaden the adoption of the technology, even if the company limits its capabilities.
As a reminder, ChatGPT is powered by the large GPG-3.5 language model – GPT-4 is reserved for paid subscribers. It allows you to write texts, receive explanations of tailor-made exercises, or even create code in a few seconds. By making it accessible without creating an account, OpenAI is pleased to improve the accessibility of its tool. “It is essential for us to make tools like ChatGPT widely available so that people can enjoy the benefits of AI”declares the company in a blog post. It plans to go beyond its 100 million weekly users across more than 185 countries. To take advantage of it, simply go to the address chatgpt.com and ask a question. But this addition also comes with better query blocking and content generation to keep it ethical.
However, this mode has some limitations. Thus, the superb conversation history will disappear, forcing you to retype already used prompts to find the same result. Also impossible to share your prompts with other users. Voice chat will also remain reserved for identified users, leaving others to manage in writing. Finally, unsurprisingly, you will need an account to take advantage of the functions exclusive to ChatGPT Plus. Also impossible to use DALL-E, access to which still requires an account. More advanced options, such as conversation history, personalized instructions or even the voice assistant are also reserved for users with an account.
Be careful though! Conversations with the AI can be used to train and improve its GPT model. However, there is the option or settings to deactivate this, including for those without accounts. But we can rightly fear that cybercriminals could simply train residents for nefarious purposes, thus endangering all Internet users.
