After the double pokes – Lindh EC-ready

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Although Lindh was invited by the International Association of Athletics Federations, WA, due to the IOC’s top eight requirement, she was not allowed to go to the Olympics last year. And there was no WC in Eugene either, even though the 31-year-old passed the WC qualification limit already in September.

“The national team captain has the last word and I have to accept her decision and recharge for the next championship,” wrote Lindh in a text message to Aftonbladet after the World Cup kick-off.

Now the European Championship in Munich awaits the 800-meter runner.

More names are added

In the squad, which so far consists of 53 athletes, there is of course also the recent WC gold medalist and world record holder Armand Duplantis together with, among others, Daniel Ståhl, discus, and Khaddi Sagnia, long jump.

And more names are added.

“The WC this weekend will be an important form indicator for the majority of active players, and then we’ll see what happens with the rankings – if a few more qualify that way. Some pieces remain to be put into the EC puzzle,” says Kajsa Bergqvist to the Swedish Athletics Federation’s website.

“Fighting for the medals”

Bergqvist continues:

“We have just finished a fierce and intense World Cup in the USA, but now it is fully focused on the future. To the European Championship in Germany we travel with a significantly wider squad, and the idea is to give more people the chance to compete at the ultimate level. Overall, the squad accommodates many active with a chance at the top eight and some will of course fight for the medals.”

The European Athletics Championships will be decided August 15-21.
