For a long time, anime and manga fans dreaded the prospect of a live-action adaptation of their favorite series. However, the success of the Netflix series One Piece fueled new confidence that good live-action anime adaptations are possible. After One Piece and the recently launched fantasy action series Yu Yu Hakusho is coming to Netflix soon the next film adaptation of a popular manga series before: The live-action series Parasyte: The Gray promises brutal sci-fi action and disgusting body horror.
Parasitic sci-fi horror: That’s what the Netflix series Parasyte is about
The new Netflix series is based on Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga series Parasyte, which was originally published in Japan between 1988 and 1995 and has already produced an anime series and two live-action films. Now we can expect another adaptation as a South Korean live-action series from Train to Busan director Sang-ho Yeon is brought into position.

This is what the new Parasyte series is about: The sci-fi story is about alien parasites that infiltrate host bodies on Earth and kill people. However, a parasite doesn’t quite manage to do this. Human teenager Jeong Su-in manages to prevent her brain from being taken over, but the creature nests in her arm.
From now on, humans and parasites must learn to coexist. The fact that Jeong Su-in can suddenly shape her body into a weapon helps her in the fight against other evil parasites, although not all of them aim to destroy humanity. Fans can look forward to lots of weird and bloody fights as well as nightmarish body modifications be happy.
When does Parasyte: The Gray start on Netflix?
The new live-action series Parasyte: The Gray has been filming since February 2023 and should therefore on Netflix as early as 2024 be visible. However, since the parasite story is very effective and requires a lot of CGI, it is not yet possible to estimate how long post-production of the series will take.
