After Iran’s threat – Israel closes schools

“It has been decided that educational activities are prohibited throughout Israel,” the country’s military signs X.

The decision applies from 23:00 on Saturday local time until the same time on Monday.

The tone surrounding an Iranian revenge attack against Israel has intensified over the past week, and information in the American media in particular has claimed that a larger attack could take place in the near future.

Joe Biden does not want to go into more detail about what US intelligence says, but notes that he expects an attack “sooner rather than later”. He is then asked what kind of message he wants to send to Iran:

– Don’t do it (“Don’t”).

He also emphasizes that the United States will help defend Israel.

– We will support Israel and help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed.

Killed top military personnel

Last week, there was an attack on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus, in which several high-ranking people in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were killed.

Israel is believed to be behind the attack, but has not openly claimed responsibility for it. The country has carried out many attacks against targets in Syria over several years without speaking openly about them.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed that Iran will respond to Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus last week.

It has been said in the US media that Iran appears to be planning a major robot or drone strike against Israel. On Friday, it was reported that it could happen as early as the weekend, but Iranian informants also said that the ayatollah was still weighing all the risks.

Rockets from the north

In Israel, preparedness has been raised for an attack. The Israeli military says it is prepared for all possible developments and is in close contact with the US military. A top American general has traveled to Israel to assist.

During the night of Saturday, several rockets were fired from Lebanese soil at the town of Sderot in northern Israel, which was followed by Israeli airstrikes against targets in Lebanon said to belong to the Islamist movement Hezbollah.

Several international airlines have canceled departures or changed routes in the region citing the security situation. A number of countries have also specifically advised against travel to the region.
