Man charged with domestic offenses

Two local men are facing impaired driving charges after their actions while behind the while attracted the attention of Chatham-Kent police.

Police were assisting Chatham-Kent OPP with a motor vehicle crash at Creek Road and Communications road early Saturday morning when a vehicle came up to the emergency vehicles and made an immediate U-turn.

Police said the vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 42-year-old Blenheim man, was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters and charged with impaired driving and released with a Sept. 19 court date.

A 19-year-old Chatham man was pulled over by police after being seen driving in an erratic fashion around 5 am Friday.

The driver was found to be on some form of drug and placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters for further investigation, police said.

He was charged with operation while impaired by a drug and released with a Sept. 8 court date, police said.

Woman accused of biting police officer

A local woman is facing charges after being stopped by Chatham-Kent police while on her bicycle.

The woman, who was known to have an outstanding warrant, was arrested on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg and placed under arrest, police said.

The accused allegedly bit an officer and made several attempts to kick officers, police said.

She was transported to police headquarters and held for bail on outstanding warrant charge along with assault and resisting a peace officer, police said.
