Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds had a surprise hit in 2017 with the bawdy action comedy Killer’s Bodyguard. The $30 million blockbuster grossed a whopping $183 million worldwide.
The sequel was quickly decided, but this success could not be repeated. Killer’s Bodyguard 2, which will be broadcast by RTL on Sunday at 8:15 p.m. as a German free TV premiere, flopped at the box office.

In the sequel, Reynolds takes time off to play bodyguard Michael Bryce to recover from the rigors of his job. But the calm doesn’t last long, because suddenly the contract killer Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson) appears again and drags him into a new chaos. Also on board this time: Darius’ wife Sonia (Salma Hayek), who even outshines the killer when it comes to tough quick-wittedness.
Four years after Killer’s Bodyguard, the sequel returns to the same entertainment factors as part 1. This includes the hilarious dynamic between Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool mode and Samuel L. Jackson in Samuel L. Jackson mode. In addition to the fast-paced action Salma Hayek the highlight of Killer’s Bodyguard 2. Her boisterous nature is so much fun that hopefully the actress will see more roles like her in the future.
In the cinema, on the other hand, far too few people were interested in the action comedy. Killer’s Bodyguard 2 grossed exactly $70 million worldwide on a budget of $70 million and is therefore considered a heavy flop. Unfortunately, fans shouldn’t have high hopes for an implied third part…
