In the team from Oulu, the coaching is partially renewed. Rauno Ojanen will continue as head coach of AC Oulu, but two new coaches will join the team.
AC Oulu, who played cheerfully in last season’s Veikkausliiga and won the challenger series, is busy with its coaching.
A person from Oulu with a UEFA-pro coaching license Rauno Ojanen continue as head coach. The coaching trio is completed by the assistant coach of Pikkuhuahkajie Tuomas Silvennoinen and worked as an assistant coach at KTP Mikko Viitsalo.
58-year-old Ojase has a long experience in football coaching. Last season, he was part of AC Oulu’s coaching team, which he led Ricardo Duerte. He announced in the summer that he will not continue in Oulu. The team played until the end of the season under Ojanen’s command. The starting season is Ojase’s ninth, either fully or partially in the role of head coach.
– I take overall responsibility, but the work is divided in our team. Football is developing all the time, and a new idea is needed in training in order to develop further, says Ojanen.
38-year-old Tuomas Silventot was rumored to be the head coach during the summer, but he will move to the Oulu team as an assistant coach to lead the game-like process, as AC Oulu likes to say.
Silvennoinen previously worked at HJK and has been the assistant coach of the Finnish under-21 national team.
– My idea is that what is done, is done well and fully, says Silvennoinen.
Mikko Viitsalo starts third in coaching as a so-called field coach. The 34-year-old coach worked as KTP’s assistant coach for the previous two seasons. Silvennoinen and Viitsalo coached JIPPO’s 17-year-old junior team in Joensuu in 2020–2021.
AC Oulu will renew its players for the next season. There are already 12 starters. AC Oulu and HJK’s midfielder Aleksi Paananen announced at the beginning of the week that they have signed a two-year player contract with a one-year club option.
