After having difficulty carrying two pregnancies to term, a 23-year-old young woman is now expecting two pairs of identical twins. A “blessing”, according to her.
This is an exceptional case of pregnancy. According to the English media The Sun, a 23-year-old young woman, named Ebony, is currently pregnant with two pairs of identical twins.
A “massive shock”
While in 2013, an American woman had already given birth on February 14 to two pairs of identical twins, making four little boys in total, this time it was in England that this “miraculous” pregnancy occurred.
At just 23 years old, Ebony Apps will welcome two pairs of identical twins, according to media reports The Sun. She and her partner, Jayden Cornish, 21, are delighted with this multiple pregnancy, after having experienced two spontaneous miscarriages.
It was precisely during the first ultrasound that they learned the incredible news.
“It was very shocking, but obviously we’re very excited. It’s a blessing.”tells Ebony Apps on the set of the show Sunrise. As for the future father, he confides: “It was a massive shock. I only started to realize it in the last couple of weeks.”
Two pairs of monozygotic twins
Another particularity of Ebony Apps’ pregnancy: she is pregnant with two pairs of monozygotic twins, an extremely rare phenomenon.
Monozygotic twins are twins that result from the division of a single fertilized egg. They represent approximately 20% of twin pregnancies.
The members of the hospital staff who carry out the follow-up and ultrasound scans of the young mother were also very surprised by this news, confides Ebony Apps.
“No one has ever really seen that. All the sonographers had been working in this field for about 30 years and they had never seen it.”
Significant costs linked to the arrival of babies
If the young parents seem very enthusiastic about the idea of soon welcoming their four children, they are also aware of the costs associated with this particular pregnancy.
To meet their daily expenses, they decided to launch a fundraiser on the GoFundMe financing platform.
“We will be overwhelmed by future expenses“, wrote Ebony Apps on the platform.
“Any donation will be greatly appreciated. It will be used to create this new life with our four babies,” explains, in conclusion, the future dad.
