Esapekka Lappi has driven out in Halttula’s special test.

Esapekka Lappi has driven into a tree in the Jyväskylä World Rally Championship race at the Halttula special stage. Rally radio expert Ville Pynnönen according to which the exit took place with a force of 19 G.

Lapland and its carts Janne Ferm pressed the OK button after exiting. The Hyundai rally team also announced that Lappi and Ferm are fine.

Lappi was in fourth place before his exit and 9.2 seconds behind Kalle Rovanperä, who is leading the race. The Halttula special test was the fifth special test of the competition.

Of the nine rally1 cars entered in the competition, three have already had to stop. Earlier, in the Lankamaa special test, Ott Tänak and Pierre-Louis Loubet were left on the side of the road. Tänak hit a rock and his engine broke. Loubet, on the other hand, crashed his car into a tree.

Lapland’s Hyundai teammate Teemu Suninen also slipped out in Halttula. The rear of his car was in a ditch, but Suninen was able to save the situation.

– The weather made the special stage quite difficult, Suninen summed up the special stage at the finish line.

Toyota’s Jari-Matti Latvala cleared the Haltula special test as the last rally1 car.

– Good that we got through. It was a really slippery bit. There were facial movements at the surgery sites, Latvala described her tight moments.
