A hair detox with green clay

Women who take great care of their skin are well aware of the absorbent and purifying properties of clay. Green clay face masks, for example, are a favorite ritual for oily skin prone to imperfections. This active ingredient perfectly unclogs impurities and deeply cleans pores. But green clay has more than one advantage. Its richness in minerals and its absorbent properties make it a good ally for oily scalps. Colored hair is not left out since it can benefit from its detoxifying properties before proceeding with color.

Example with this shampoo “no poo” (in reference to the trend of abandoning hair washing to industrial shampoos). Applied before coloring, it gently cleanses and removes impurities from the scalp. Take care of your hair with this DIY recipe offered by Aroma-Zone.

Equipment

A 200 ml jar (for 3 to 6 shampoos)

A mortar and pestle

A precision scale (or 25 ml measuring cup)

A bowl

A mini stainless steel whisk (or stainless steel spatula)

Ingredients

100 g of montmorillonite green clay powder (or 4 measuring cups 25 ml)

10 g powdered stinging nettle or powdered matcha green tea (or 1 measuring cup 25 ml)

1g or 35 drops of rosemary cineole essential oil

40 g of powdered olive pits (or 2 measuring cups 25 ml)

Preparation in 15 minutes flat

Step 1: make the powder

Put the green clay and the stinging nettle powder in a mortar.

Add the rosemary essential oil, then grind everything with a pestle until homogenized.

Add the olive pit powder and mix with a spatula or a mini-whisk to homogenize.

Transfer the resulting powder to a jar.

Step 2: make the paste (each time you use it)

Put 2 to 4 tablespoons of powder in a bowl depending on the length of your hair*.

Gradually pour water over the powder, mixing until you get a smooth paste. The amount of water to obtain a fluid paste may vary depending on the plant powders. Adjust it if necessary.

Application

Apply the paste in massage on the wet scalp, then massage to the ends by adding a little hot water. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse with clear water.

This treatment cannot be stored.
