a new vaccination campaign that is slipping – LExpress

The first data from the new vaccination campaign against Covid-19 were revealed last week, and they are enough to question the health authorities. Only 1.8% of people aged 65 and over have received their injection since October 2, the launch date of the national campaign. Among those aged 80 and over, this figure only rises to 1.9%. Among Ephad medical staff, the rate even tops out at 0.5%.

Last year, on the same date, 38.3% of those over 80 had already received their second booster dose in preparation for winter. This was the case for 82.5% of those over 65. Launched at the beginning of the month, the new campaign was brought forward in order to prepare for a winter marked by a triple epidemic of influenza-Covid-bronchiolitis.

This targets people aged 65 and over, as well as patients with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and people suffering from obesity.

In its latest report dated October 8, the Sentinels medical surveillance network revealed an incidence rate of 76 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, relatively stable for the moment, but which could explode with the rapid drop in temperatures.
