According to the police, the climber is exceptionally lucky to have survived.

In New Zealand, a mountaineer miraculously survived after falling 600 meters from Mount Taranaki.

They talk about it, among other things The New Zealand Herald newspaper and British broadcasting company BBC.

Mount Taranaki is a dormant volcano about 2,500 meters high on the North Island of New Zealand.

Last Saturday, a group of climbers had reached the top of the mountain. Then one man fell, began to slide down the slope, and disappeared from the view of the others.

One of the group members started to descend after his comrade. In addition, there happened to be a member of the Taranaki mountain rescue team climbing the mountain, who also went to look for the fallen man.

According to the police, searchers found the fallen climber 600 meters below. He was slightly injured and lost his shoes and ice iron during the fall.

The trio managed to descend the mountain safely.

According to the police, the melting snow on the mountainside softened the man’s fall.

– He is exceptionally lucky to have survived, a police spokesman said, according to the NZ Herald.

The accident happened in the same area where two climbers died after falling from the mountain in 2021.
