A list of European hunters with celebrities

The Rural Alliance list, led by the president of the hunting federation Willy Schraen, has already announced some headliners. But several candidates deserted.

25 years after “Hunting, fishing, nature and traditions”, a new list claiming rurality will try its luck in the 2024 European elections. In 1999, the CPNT list had collected 6.77% of the French votes. Currently, the “Rural Alliance” list led by Willy Schraen is given less than 1% in the polls. However, the president of the Hunting Federation hoped to bring together well beyond hunters, by calling on several popular personalities.

Among the candidates declared on this “Rural Alliance” list, we find the rugby international Louis Picamols, as well as Camille Hoteman, the “queen of Arles”, who prides herself on this honorary title of ambassador of Provençal culture. . Also included are the mayor of Saint Brès (Hérault) Laurent Jaouls, and the president of the Paris butchers’ union Véronique Langlais. Diverse profiles for a list which aims to be resolutely apolitical.

Hinault withdrew

However, desertions are increasing among the announced headliners. The latest to drop out is lobbyist Thierry Coste, according to information from Figaro. This close friend of the hunters’ federation withdrew “after disagreements”, regretting the failure of the list to speak “of people’s daily lives”. It must be said that Willy Schraen, usually very media-focused, has almost disappeared from the radar, in the midst of farmers’ mobilizations. “However, it is exactly a theme for our list,” noted someone close to the president of the FNC.

Other stars announced on the list have also withdrawn, including star chef Pierre Gagnaireor even the five-time winner of the Tour de France Bernard Hinault.
