Two conscripts and two instructors received minor injuries in connection with the incident, which Hallandsposten was the first to report on.
– It was a practice session where you threw a sharp hand grenade. Something has gone wrong, it is not clear what, and the hand grenade explodes near those who throw it, says Christian Löfgren, communicator at the Armed Forces Technical School (FMTS), to SVT.
Hit by shrapnel, support calls are offered
During Monday, the exercises continued as usual. At least three of the injured have left the hospital and two of them are back in practice, according to Christian Löfgren.
Those affected will now be offered support calls.
– According to reports, they were in good spirits. At the same time, they must have been shocked and you react very differently to this. We have to keep an eye on time.
A preliminary investigation into causing bodily harm will be initiated. The incident has been reported to the Swedish Work Environment Authority and FMTS has started its own investigation into the incident.
