A German World Cup legend is just too weak in FIFA 23

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

There are a lot of players in FIFA 23 who might be a bit stronger than in real life. But unfortunately there is also the other direction: Brilliant players who cannot keep up in FUT.

In FIFA 23 there are almost countless football players who are based on their real role models. Kylian Mbappé’s dribbles in FIFA 23 are as good as they are in the French Premier League – if not a little better.

The Brazilian legend Ronaldo is feared as a goal machine, Zinedine Zidane can also do magic in FIFA like he used to on the pitch. And some players are even more feared in FIFA than in real life.

But at the same time there are players who have actually achieved everything in world football and even have high ratings in FIFA 23 on paper, but simply don’t want to function properly.

One such example: the German World Cup legend Miroslav Klose.

Legend in real life – But just not strong enough in FUT

Klose was so successful: World champion, record goalscorer for the German national team, World Cup record holder with the most goals (16). Two-time German champion, two cup winners with Bayern, one cup winner in Italy with Lazio Rome. 121 goals and 74 assists in 307 Bundesliga games.

You only have to take a few numbers from Miroslav Klose’s long career to see what a strong career the attacker has had. Again and again Klose started his distinctive jubilant somersault when he conceded a goal to the other team.

But in FIFA, Klose’s skills just don’t really translate.

How does it look in FIFA 23? A look at the futbin portal shows interesting numbers for Klose’s cards.

His four Icon cards are some of the cheapest Legends you can get in the game.

  • The basic version currently costs 75,000 coins
  • The Mid version also costs 75,000 coins
  • The Prime version is the most expensive, at 145,000 coins
  • And the 90’s World Cup Icon card, which reflects World Cup achievements, costs 86,000 coins
  • Theoretically you can say: great, if I want to play Klose, I don’t have to shell out millions of coins, like if I want to play Ronaldo, for example.

At the same time, this also means that players are simply not willing to buy Klose at more expensive prices. It’s simply not worth it compared to other, better cards – and that as an iconic player. Some players criticize this in the comments on futbin – they think that Klose’s World Cup version in particular deserves better values.

The problem with the values: Even if a card has a high rating, that doesn’t necessarily mean it fits well into the FIFA 23 meta. Values like speed, dribbling or skill moves make a big difference in FIFA. And those are areas where Klose doesn’t shine.

His strengths lie in shot values, positional play, reactions and the like. But these values are simply not quite as important as others.

A problem that other strikers in FIFA 23 can also bring with them. Thomas Müller is one such candidate whose special style of play is only partially transferred to FIFA 23.

How do you feel about the topic? Would you like stats to change in the future and players like Klose to become more useful? Tell us in the comments.

Otherwise, players are trying to earn bonuses in FIFA 23 friendlies. But that turns out to be difficult.
