Corsair has just unveiled the Xeneon Flex, a flexible 45-inch Oled screen designed with LG, capable of switching from flat to curved mode. A small technological feat that will especially interest players.

During Gamescom 2022, the international exhibition dedicated to video games which takes place from August 23 to 28, 2022, the manufacturer Corsair unveiled a new screen, the Xeneon Flex. And the least we can say is that this state-of-the-art monitor has something to distinguish itself from the market. the display: it is indeed the first “flexible” screen, which can instantly switch from a classic flat mode to a curved mode, thanks to a clever mechanism. For those who hesitate between the immersion offered by the curved format for video games and the comfort of a flat screen for working, this is the dream solution!

Gaming hardware and accessories specialist Corsair has teamed up with LG Display to design what turns out to be a world first. The Xeneon Flex uses a 45-inch diagonal Oled HDR panel – around 115 cm – in 21:9 format with 3440 x 1440 pixels (1440p). If the most demanding could regret that it is not a 4K panel, it claims a response time from gray to gray – the time spent for a transition between two levels of gray – very short, of only 0, 03 ms, which promises great responsiveness – an important criterion for gamers. Above all, the Xeneon Flex is compatible with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium technologies to adapt to variable and high refresh rate rates, going up to 240Hz – an extreme value, reserved for a few very high screens. of range. In addition, with its high maximum brightness of 1000 nits, it is suitable even for bright rooms. Corsair promises that it will be the best gaming panel on the market, just that!

Corsair Xeneon Flex: a curved screen for the elite

However, it is not its electronic characteristics that hold the attention, but its mechanical capacities. Indeed, thanks to its “flexible” panel, the Xeneon Flex can bend on demand. All you have to do is manipulate the retractable handles on each side to make it change shape, according to the desired angle – with a curve of up to 800 R – while still enjoying an extra wide 178° viewing angle, like all OLED screens. Whether on a computer or a console, this new technology is a great feat: it makes the display more immersive, which will be of particular interest to fans of racing or shooting games, who need to have a good visibility on what is happening on the sides. It also offers real versatility, allowing you to change view modes: a flat screen for work, slightly curved for watching movies or series, and very curved for better immersion in video games.

This prestige product will be available by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, but its price has not yet been announced. Although its size is smaller than the largest screens on the market, it is a very high-end monitor, with a corresponding price that should be around or even exceed 2000 euros. It should therefore – at the beginning in any case – only be intended for a privileged audience.
