The police have recently confirmed burglaries in several Swedish water facilities and water reservoirs. These are described as a potential security threat, including by the military’s intelligence service Must. A long series of similar burglaries has been found in Finland.
– We have noticed a break-in at our facility in Lövånger and have issued this recommendation as a security measure, says Klas Lundgren.
Determining an impact from the outside
He notes an external impact which may have meant that someone entered the facility.
Are there reasons to believe that the perpetrators have tampered with the water?
– Who has possibly been inside the waterworks and why we have left it to the police to investigate. What we are doing is issuing this recommendation as a precautionary measure, says Klas Lundgren.
Sampling of the drinking water is ongoing. Before the analysis is complete and the municipality’s VA department knows for sure that the water is drinkable, people are asked not to use the tap water for other than flushing the toilet. Even boiled water should not be used.

The police received a report just before eleven on Monday morning and have carried out a crime scene investigation.
– There is currently nothing to indicate that anyone has entered the building. We are currently classifying the case as vandalism, says Maria Linné at the police communications unit.
