The municipality of Zeist will let you know how the residents’ meeting went via a message on their website:
Joyce Langenacker, mayor of the municipality of Zeist, states that the municipality will take measures to better guarantee the safety of residents and that residents will be informed about this. She wants to keep the minister’s word that Fivoor will be gone by January 1, 2027 at the latest and wants to join forces with the residents to achieve this.
To improve safety, residents would like to see, for example, more local police officers in the neighborhood or security guards at Fivoor. The mayor indicates that he is taking this seriously and will discuss it.
There is a lot of unrest among the residents of Den Dolder, says the municipality of Zeist. People have a great feeling of insecurity and are disappointed that nothing is left of the agreements made following the murder of Anne Faber 7 years ago, such as the deployment of neighborhood coaches.
Erik Masthoff, director of Fivoor, says he has tried to have patients come into the village as little as possible, or under supervision, in the first days after the incident. He indicates that patients cannot be kept indoors.
The arrested 27-year-old man is suspected of murder and manslaughter. He has been heard and the Public Prosecution Service believes it has arrested the right person. The public prosecutor will ask next week to detain the suspect for an additional 90 days.
According to Niels Bergsteijn, police team leader, the police immediately started a large-scale investigation after the stabbing incident. Partly thanks to cooperation with local residents, the police have received a lot of information.
