According to Expressen, William Eklund was ready for Tre Kronor’s squad for the Four Nations.
In fact, he was nudged by Union captain Sam Hallam.
– I never listen to that clown magazine. It’s a lousy newspaper, says Eklund himself to the site sanjosehockeynow.com.
The 22-year-old William Eklundson of the Djurgård icon Christian “Fimpen” Eklundhas started the NHL season in a brilliant way. 5 goals and 18 assists so far in 28 games for the San Jose Sharks this year. Some thought that would be enough for the celebrity son to be selected in Tre Kronor’s squad for the Four Nations in February.
William Eklund is not in Tre Kronor
The national team captain Sam Hallam has now taken his national team to the Four Nations, which will be played in February, against Finland, the USA and Canada. The Express had “revealed” before the team selection that San Jose forward Eklund would be in the squad. But when Hallam introduced his team, his name was suddenly not there.

Instead, Sam Hallam chose to bet on William Nylander, Mika Zibanejad, Philip Forsberg, Jesper Bratt, Elias Pettersson, Adrian Kempe, William Karlsson, Joel Eriksson Oak, Gustav Nyquist, Lucas Raymond, Leo Carlson, Elias Lindholm and Viktor Arvidsson.
William Eklund goes hard for Expressen
Now William Eklund has gone and saw the Express in the local California site sanjosehockeynow.com. He advises all Americans never to read the Swedish evening newspaper.
– I never listen to that clown magazine. It’s a lousy newspaper and I don’t think any of us go in and read there, he says.
Apparently, Eklund is really pissed off. Maybe he started getting false hopes himself?
– Evidently they were wrong, he says and at the same time admits that he understands that Sam Hallam and his coaching staff had a hard time selecting players for the tournament:
– They had to make tough decisions, you already knew that before. Before the season, it was a goal to join the team. I think I did my best to be there.

It was sad for William Eklund, of course. He is so young and he will get several chances in the future. Take it easy and run your race in the NHL, William. Your time will come.
