Brutal defeat for Barcelona in La Liga teenage star

Spanish La Liga leader Barcelona suffered a 2-4 loss away to Osasuna late on Saturday.

Barcelona’s clean record was tarnished in the Spanish football league, when the upper middle class Osasuna surprised the giant club that was swinging at the top of the league with goals 4–2 (2-0).

The last time Osasuna had knocked down the Catalan giant in their home arena was twelve years ago – in 2012. The winners’ goals were scored twice by Ante Budimir mixed Bryan Zaragoza and Abel Bretones.

Coach Hansi Flick had decided to rest Barcelona’s teenage star before the match Lamine Yamalia. Yamal, who was replaced on the field in the second half, was unable to change the course of his team, even though he scored a goal in the 89th minute.

Yamal, 17, is the first player in Europe’s top-5 leagues who has completed five complete hits since the beginning of the season and shared five assists leading to goals with his teammates.

At the beginning of the series, Barcelona had won all seven matches with a goal difference of 23–5. The eighth win in a row would have eclipsed the 2013 club record.

Barcelona remain one game clear at the top of La Liga with four points ahead of Real Madrid, who face Atletico Madrid in Sunday’s 10pm derby.
