William Nylander played all 82 games of the NHL’s regular season, and just days before the NHL playoffs began, he played in the final game of the regular season, against the Tampa Bay Lightning. But when it was time for game one of the first-round meeting against Boston, Nylander was suddenly missing.
The great mystery
Toronto didn’t want to say what it was about, but just the next day, Nylander attended a voluntary practice. Many therefore hoped that he would go to the second game in the series, but William Nylander was not there either. During the week, experts and profiles have all asked themselves the question: What is it really about him?
There has been speculation about injuries and even him being kicked out of the team. However, it would have been a real surprise considering that he is one of the team’s best players, who also signed a monster contract earlier in the season. Last night was game three of the series between the two Original Six rivals, and after seeing footage from Wednesday’s practice, in which Nylander participated, everyone expected him to be on the ice. But once again, fans were left disappointed.
The Wrath of the Expert
Not only did the Toronto Maple Leafs lose 2-4, and thus trail 1-2 in the series, William Nylander was missing again. This means that the Swede missed all three games, after having played all 82 during the regular season. And now several profiles are starting to lament Toronto’s lack of communication about Nylander’s mysterious absence. Paul Bissonnette, who runs the world’s biggest hockey podcast “Spittin’ Chiclets”, and is an expert on the television channel TNT, has been at the forefront all the way in finding out what is really wrong with the star Swede.
He has even started the hashtag “WhereIsWilly” on social media, which he uses daily.
During yesterday, when he saw videos of Nylander training with players who were going to be poked out of the match squad, he wrote in short:
“Unbelievable”.
When the news that Nylander would not play the game on Wednesday night, he responded with a derogatory emoji.
