Plans call for the community peace mural to be installed to the right of the stairs ascending from the Market Street Parkade to Colborne Street East at a future date.

The initiative is a collaboration between the city, a member of the UNESCO Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities, and Wilfrid Laurier University. It is based on three guiding principles – learn from each other, stand up for each other and celebrate each other.

Participants will be encouraged to share stories and images that symbolize their identities, cultures and experiences to be incorporated into the mural’s final design.

“We encourage community members from all walks of life to participate in these mural workshops,” Laura Almeida, the city’s administrative and project coordinator, said. “This mural is intended to celebrate the growing diversity within our community by incorporating visuals that symbolize different backgrounds coming together in peace and unity.”

Registration for the workshops is encouraged but not required. To learn more visit www.Brantford.ca/PeaceMural.
