After high schools in the Paris region, numerous secondary schools in Lorraine, Alsace and Champagne-Ardenne have been targeted by terrorist threats. Identical threats were made in several regions.
Following a series of hackings of digital exchange platforms (Espaces Numériques de Travail – ENT) between students, parents and teachers, messages of terrorist threats targeted 150 middle and high schools in the Paris region. They were sometimes accompanied by videos of beheadings. The final act was scheduled for this Monday, March 25, 2024.
On Sunday night, hundreds of schools in several academies received identical messages. This was particularly the case in the eastern part of France, where many colleges and high schools were temporarily closed while the police carried out precautionary searches.
Colleges and high schools closed or evacuated
According to Les Dernieres Nouvelles d’Alsace, eight schools have been closed in the Bas-Rhin region: in Strasbourg, Bischheim, Bischwiller, Molsheim, Schiltigheim, Saverne and Schirmeck.
In Lorraine, the Rectorat de l’Académie Nancy-Metz stated in a press release that “The accounts of certain users of some thirty schools in the Académie were stolen on Sunday night. The establishments concerned have lodged a complaint, as required by procedure. The Nancy-Metz education authority has also lodged a complaint. Since Monday morning, March 25, the ENT messaging function has been deactivated in order to limit the transmission of threatening messages, and will remain so until further notice… The police and national gendarmerie are mobilized in the vicinity of the establishments. ”
