The Ski Federation has intervened in the weekend skirmish between

Ismo Hämäläinen, executive director of the skiing association, says that the matter has been finalized for the association. According to him, the late announcement is related to the rush of the communications department.

Iivo Niskanen and Kalle Parantainen will not receive additional sanctions for the incident seen at the Kuopio Finnish Cup skiing.

The two sorted out their differences in Kuopio at the end of February. Niskanen was suspected of trying to kick Parantai on the track. In the goal area, the situation turned into a stalemate and Parantainen tripped Niska, who came close.

At that time, Niskanen and Parantainen received verbal warnings about the incident. The matter was referred to the disciplinary body of the Swedish Ski Federation and it decided not to issue additional sanctions. Be the first to report on the disciplinary decision Evening newspaper.

Executive Director of the Ski Association Ismo Hämäläinen tells Urheilu that the matter has been finalized as far as the union is concerned. The case has been handled in accordance with the association’s usual protocol, i.e. first the case was handled by the Council of Judges.

– If it still needs to be looked at more closely, as happened now, an expert group will be formed from the rules group. It takes a closer look at the possible materials and then makes a decision, Hämäläinen says.

The ski association’s disciplinary body made its decision on the matter already almost two weeks ago. However, the Ski Federation did not inform about the matter earlier, but the information is supposed to be published on Wednesday.

– The rules group’s decision came just before the Salpausselkä Games, and our communication has been such a pain in the ass – there have been a lot of games here – and we have run out of hands. Apparently, the interest of the matter has been so great that the media have been interested in this. Unfortunately, we had to delay it in the sense that the working days were so full, Hämäläinen justifies.

Hämäläinen assures that the late announcement is not intended to mitigate the issue.

– Not all decisions are announced publicly. There’s something about television as usual (things related to it). They are dealt with on the spot, and now this publicity has naturally been quite extensive in this case, but this (late announcement) is precisely because the communication desk has been so full that routine tasks have overtaken this point.
