Organizers say they need a 12,000-square-foot venue to display the thousands of books and other items that will be on sale in support of the symphony. A kitchen and good washroom facilities are also needed and one or two small offices would be beneficial.

The space needs to be wheelchair accessible and available from March 1 to April 30.

A large parking lot is also needed to accommodate the number of book lovers who are expected to attend the event, organizers say.

This year’s book fair takes place April 24 to 27 and is the second in-person sale since the COVID-19 pandemic. Gently used books covering a range of topics including fiction, non-fiction, history, wildlife, transportation and sports are sold out at the event.

In the past, puzzles, vinyl records, CDs and DVDS have been sold at the fair.

The event, organized by the Brantford Symphony Book Fair committee, usually generates between $50,000 and $60,000 annually with proceeds used to support the Brantford Symphony.

Anyone with a venue suitable for the book fair is asked to contact Aida Steenkist at 519-759-8781 or by email at [email protected] or through the website at www.brantfordsymphony.ca.
