Russian President Vladimir Putin made statements about the Russia-Ukraine War at his meeting with mayors in the capital Moscow.
“IF IT CONTINUES LIKE THIS, UKRAINE MAY SUFFER A VERY SERIOUS BLOW”
Stating that the Ukrainian army’s attack against Russian military forces “failed”, Putin said, “Not only did their attacks fail, but the initiative is also in the hands of the Russian Armed Forces. If it continues like this, the Ukrainian state could suffer a very serious blow.” said.
Putin stated that it is not possible for Russia to give up the lands it has acquired in Ukraine and said, “Everyone understands that this is not possible. The Ukrainian administration and the Western elites also understand this. The peace formula talked about in the West and Ukraine is the Ukrainian President’s decision to ban negotiations with Russia.” “It is a continuation of the decree. These are the conditions that hinder the negotiation process.” he said.

Pointing out that negotiations were held between Russia and Ukraine in the first months of the war, Putin continued as follows:
“They (the Ukrainian side) gave up on negotiations. We agreed on everything in Istanbul. Moreover, the head of the Ukrainian negotiating group also signed it. We have this document. Now they have announced that they persuaded the then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson not to implement the agreements. Aren’t they stupid? ? They asked Russia to signal that it was ready to resolve the issues peacefully and to withdraw troops from Kiev. We withdrew the troops a day later. Then they threw away all these agreements. The issue would have been resolved just 1.5 years ago. This meant that they (the Ukrainians) “) once again shows that it is not independent. The war in Ukraine started not in 2022, but in 2008, when the decision was made to open the doors of NATO to Ukraine and Georgia. Putin said that they would protect his country’s interests by continuing the “special military operation” in Ukraine.
Pointing out that the Ukrainian army launched an attack on the Russian city of Belgorod, Putin said, “They are trying to show that they can do something, and instead of solving military problems, they act barbarically. They attack civilian settlements without choosing a weapon.” he said.
