Brantford residents face assault charges in various incidents

Man 52 arrested after attempted bank robbery

Brantford police have investigated a number of recent assaults.

On Aug.15 at about 4:30 am, police were called to a reported assault at a Marlene Avenue residence.

Police say a man was allegedly threatening on-site security with a knife.

The accused was arrested nearby and charged with assault with a weapon; uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm; failure to comply with judicial order; and disobey court order.

On Aug. 12 at about 10 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of ​​Icomm Drive and Market Street South where it was reported two females had been approached by a man and woman who accused them of stealing their belongings. There was an argument, say police, and one of the accused is alleged to have hit one of the victims. The other accused is alleged to have hit the victim’s car with a baseball bat.

One of the victims received minor injuries.

A 32-year-old Brantford resident is charged with assault and a 44-year-old Brantford resident is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.

On Aug. 10 at about 3 pm, police were called to an altercation between two men on Market Street.

Police say they found the men arguing and one of them appeared to be stabbed in the face. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 67-year-old Brantford man is charged with probation order – non-compliance; assault with a weapon; aggravated assault; possession of weapon for dangerous purpose; and possession of fentanyl.
