Citizens’ Council
It is not the first time in the province of Utrecht that a so-called citizens’ council has been set up to look at a complicated problem. A similar group in Zeist spoke out last week about fireworks during the turn of the year. In this way, Zeist brought people with very different and even opposing wishes to the table. The hundred members gave recommendations with which their municipality can ensure that New Year’s Eve is a party for all residents.
The tips were somewhat predictable, but are supported by the entire citizens’ council, despite all the diversity in the ranks. The municipality of Utrecht also decided last month to set up a citizens’ council for the fireworks issue. What is special about Eemnes is that literally all adult residents are invited to participate in a broad plebiscite.
