No 6th stage of Paris Nice this Friday March 10 due to bad weather conditions.
No Paris Nice this Friday, March 10! The Race to the Sun will not start due to bad weather conditions, the wind blowing much too hard on the roads, preventing the safety of the runners. At first, the organizers had decided to shorten the stage. After a short parade in Tourves, the runners returned to their coaches to take the direction of kilometer 117, at La Fontaine d’Aragon, in order to cover the last 80 kilometers of the course. But the wind was right and it was deemed more prudent to cancel this 6th stage.
Tadej Pogacar is therefore still the leader of this Paris-Nice but he is still threatened by the Frenchman David Gaudu at six seconds. The Groupama FDJ rider did not hesitate to show his intentions yesterday by taking time in the intermediate sprint. Even if the test of the day should not be the one where he will be attacked from all sides, Tadej Pogacar will remain on his guard. “We’ll see what happens…”, he testified before getting back on the bike. He is now the man to beat and in a tricky stage such as this, the UAE champion has reason to be surprised, especially if the Jumbo-Visma of Jonas Vingegaard (at 46 seconds) decides to take matters into his own hands.
Tadej Pogacar remained at the end of the fifth yellow jersey stage which he took during the final at the Loge des Gardes. Frenchman David Gaudu and his rival Jonas Vingegaard follow him quite closely with less than a minute behind.
- Tadej Pogacar
- David Gaudu at 6s
- Jonas Vingegaard at 46s
- Simon Yates at 58s
- Gino Mader at 1’21s
- Romain Bardet at 1’42
