The armed forces continue to strengthen the defense on Gotland. Right now, a large military exercise is being carried out on the island in which roughly 400 people from 17 different units are participating – to test Gotland’s ability to withstand an attack.
Among other things, personnel at the island’s armored regiment get the chance to test their newest addition, the grenade launcher-armored tracked vehicle Mjölner.
In the military escalation on the island, it is also clear that Gotland will have its own field hospital.
– It is important that we quickly build an increased capability on Gotland, taking into account the external situation and Gotland’s strategic location, says Magnus Frykvall, regiment commander P18, Gotland.
