The Maliebaan has been the subject of much discussion in recent years. The problem is the intersection between Maliebaan and Burgemeester Reigerstraat and Nachtegaalstraat. During rush hours there are often bicycle traffic jams, the flow of cyclists towards the University district De Uithof is held up by the traffic lights. Friend and foe agree that something must be done about that intersection. But the solution of alderman Lot van Hooijdonk (GroenLinks) is supported by few people outside the council.
